Elsie was born in El Salvador and has been a US citizen for some time now. She felt a calling to be part of the Caring People when she heard JoDee Herschend share the vision of the ministry while speaking in Chapel at Convoy of Hope. Having been a Single Mom in the past, Elsie knew the time had come to start reaching out to Single Moms.
God spoke to her heart, she captured the vision, and immediately joined the Caring People Admin Team to help start a Hispanic side to the ministry. The plans at that time were to have a website were Single Moms could come visit and while there, be ministered to. However, the Lord had other plans and now she gets to share the mission abroad and in person!
Elsie now lives permanently in El Salvador with her husband Kenton Moody as Assemblies of God missionaires. Some of the work they do is helping the poor, evangelistic outreaches and helping to run the feeding programs in four communities of Santa Ana. Her friend, Miribel de la Rosa, who is a pastor's wife has been instrumental in helping her plant the Caring People there. Through Elsie, she immediately caught the vision of the Caring People as she saw the great need to help Single Moms in the country. This is how the Caring People is now launching beyond the US borders.
As a Single Mom, Elsie had two children, Jonathan and Marilyn. She then met Rev. Kenton Moody, who was also a single dad of three beautiful children, Chris, Stephen & Michelle.
Elsie said, "It is a real privilege and a joy to bring the Caring People to the Single Moms in El Salvador. I know there are thousands of Single Moms (whether divorced, separated, or never being married). I know how it feels to have a broken heart and be rejected by society and many times by the church. I know the pain and sorrow Single Moms carry in their hearts when they are criticized and set aside with no one to help. I also know that only God can reach out to them. He does it through unconditional love placed in the hearts of godly women that will reach out with the Word of God."
