JoDee Herschend is the visionary behind the Caring People® a ministry with a mission "to create an awareness of and a desire to meet Jesus." To meet this mission, JoDee and her team will draw on the knowledge and expertise of targeted marketing, which created success for her family's business, Silver Dollar City. The Herschend family owns The Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation, a company dedicated to Christian principles in their interaction with over 5,000 employees and 11.5 million guests at 13 major tourist attractions in Branson, Pigeon Forge, Myrtle Beach, and Atlanta. JoDee and her team have assembled a group of technical experts of national renown in order to assist the Caring People to achieve its mission. In addition, JoDee has developed strategic alliances with top international ministries that will each play a role in what JoDee excitedly calls, "this unprecedented move of God." The "unprecedented move" JoDee talks about has a focus on people who don't know, don't care, or don't understand Jesus. "In the past few years, God has focused my vision," JoDee says, "We can't reach everyone at once, so we're targeting specific unreached people groups one at a time. We want to establish meaningful one-on-one relationships based on the individual needs of that person. We’re alarmed at the desperate situation of many single moms and their children, so that’s where we're starting." JoDee is a graduate of Southwest Missouri State University. She and her husband Peter have dozens of years experience with numerous ministries, including Acts 29, Episcopal World Missions, Shaping Our Future, Inc., and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Through the Herschend Foundation, they support missionary and evangelistic work at the community, national, and international level. The Herschend family lives in Branson, Missouri, where they raised five children and now entertain their grandchildren at every opportunity.
