“Blankets and Fellowship” from the Caring People’s Single Moms to the Residents of Golden Living Center
January 7, 2017 – Branson, Mo. When JoDee Herschend began the Caring People over twenty years ago, she could have had no idea of the impact within our community that the organization would have. The Caring People reach out with love, support, and prayer to over 500 Single Moms in thirty-six Care Groups throughout the Midwest and in Central America. However, these Single Moms and the Caring Women who minister to them don’t keep all of the love to themselves!
For the last couple of months, the Caring People’s Branson Area Mission Support Team has been holding “Blanket and Fellowship” meetings where they made and hand-tied over ninety fleece blankets. A local Girl Scout troupe, over thirty Single Moms and their children, and April Mulnik’s 4th grade class at Cedar Ridge Elementary joined the Caring People at Fellowship Church and First Presbyterian Church to make these special gifts.
On Saturday, January 7th, the Caring People’s Branson Area Mission Support Team delivered the hand-tied blankets to the residents of Golden Living Center on Highway 248. These volunteers went from room-to-room giving out blankets to residents who were not able to meet in the activity center. Those residents who were able to come to the activity center enjoyed a time of playing games, talking, and interacting with the Caring People’s team of Caring Women, Single Moms, and children.
While the residents were blessed with beautiful, warm blankets, the Caring People’s Branson City Chair, Glenda Egan, said, “We were blessed beyond anything we could have expected!” And the blessings don’t stop there. The Branson Area Mission Support Team meets every third Saturday of the month at Golden Living Center to bring love, the encouragement of a friendly smile, and the laughter of children to the residents.
